About Us

The Department of Youth Resources and Sports came into being as a separate department in the year 1986 bifurcated from the erstwhile Department of School and Physical Education. Then, it was known as the “Department of Physical Education, Sports & Youth Welfare.” In the year 1993 the nomenclature of the erstwhile Department of Physical Education and Youth Welfare was changed to the “Department of Youth Resources and Sports” by the State Government.
The Department of Youth Resources & Sports is committed to promoting Sports and Youth activities in the State. In order to achieve this objective, the Government of Nagaland has adopted “Sports Policy” and “Youth Policy”. These policies aim at facilitating a multidimensional and integrated approach with the active involvement of the Youth. Thus the base is established to formulate the policies so as to achieve a desirable goal.
